That was one BIG QLF outing for me.

I run SO2R with two keyboards. Well, I had them swapped. At first I could not
tell as everything ALMOST worked. However the occasional keystroke caused the
other rig to activate. That made a few QSOs quite fun... NOT. So, I finally
stopped and checked everything out offline. 5 minutes downtime.

Then as I was working Bob, KE2D, my computer totally locked up. Fortunately I
still had my YCCC box (and internal keyer) working so I could finish the QSO.
The only way to unlock was do a crash and reboot of my Win7. By the time the
computer was back up it was 1902. DONE!! 5 more minutes of downtime.

Total on the air - 50 minutes.

Thanks for the Qs - the patience of several of you - and the fun???

100 watts to an OCF antenna at 10ft above ground. It works ok.

10M was open- I called CQ there for 3 minutes and was spotted by several
Skimmers, but no Qs. 15M produced a quick flurry, but Skimmer again told me I
was being heard well in the USA, but after the first 10 minutes no Qs. That
left 20M and the slog.

See you all in the late shift!

Well, they say CWT can be used for experiments - I began to see 20 was good and
decided at some point to make this a single band effort. I tried a run for 40
for a minute or so and went back to 20. For sure the most I have logged on 20
meters in a CWT and broke 9K points. That was fun. I goofed on a few or could
have been over 100 on 20 meters. Had QRMV also (visitors in my home talking
loud!!) Hope to cu 0300.

Got home from visiting my dad(N9LFE) in the hospital a little late. Started on
20 and all worked as it should which just confirmed my suspicion that when
going from 40 to 20 and falling flat is me not the station.
Gonna have to focus on those band changes. This just reiterates to me the value
of these CWTs for checking equipment and technique. It's become a valuable tool
for me since re-entering the hobby and especially contesting.

In general flutter on 14 MHz was too fast for reliable decodes. The only calls
heard with certainty were W7SW and N5PHT (who copied my ..AA just seconds
before CWT's end)... On 7 MHz just IK0YVV wkd with a very potent signal. UR5MM
heard but then worked on 3.5 MHz using a triangle made of the upper and lower
bearing guy wires of one arm/leg of the rotary tower guys. Best resonance is
near 5.5 MHz (60 m). Overall 80 m was best with 4 QSO's .... Cheers/73, Zaba

VVVVVVVERY sorry for sometimes sounding like AE9AA/'s not on purpose.
This time of year, cabin is cold or cool and coupled with an SWR that's not
perfectly flat (maybe up to 1.5:1), I presume the rig folds back the first few
dits. It takes both factors at once to do it and since I have removed the
screwdriver for the winter, I am left with a 20m monobander (fixed qrg)

This weekend I may install a different base coil to see if I can get the SWR
perfectly flat.

If it continues, I will stop the mobile CWT's til spring as I don't want to
'hassle\ you guys with the poor signal.

Agn, vy sri !
