Passing out a few Qs. Spent a bit of time working on keeping RF out of my new
monitor when running more than 40 watts. Several tons of ferrite later it's all
OK.

That was pretty tortuous! Worked a few Ca stations on 20M, but pretty much the
propagation stopped at Iowa. Same thing on 40M; same thing on 80M. Not many
signals on the band; too many unanswered cuplets. It was a fairly relaxing way
to spend 3+ hours.

Thanks to all for the Qs.

Had a great start then the storms hit and had to QRT 0130-0340..Poop! Seemed to
be able to work people even with limited antennas, RTTY ops have really picked
up the sprint format from the last time I played several years ago! Nice job!

K7ZO   Single Op HP   2382012-03-10 20:05:29
Just got on for a bit the last hour. Only have a 40M dipole and most everyone
had left for 80M by the time I got there. Band seemed in pretty good shape
given the recent storms. Good loud signals from back east.

Almost everyone left 20 early. As usual, 40 is money band from here. Went to
80 about 30 mins earlier than planned. Had hoped to break 200 Qs but no dice,
but was fun. Thanks to everyone that participated.....Fred, WW4LL

W7WHY   Single Op HP   4,0922012-03-10 20:06:08
Wow!!! Was that a slog or what?

Here in the PNW, the bands really sucked. QSB was terrible. I kept changing
the profiles on N1MM to try and find one that would work. Think I must have
tried them all.

But, it was fun and I love the Sprints! 73 and thanks for the Q's

Haven't tried this one in a while. Pretty fun this time out.

Thanks a lot to Kevin AK4QU for putting together the TCG team.

W6SX   Single Op HP   6,0042012-03-10 20:16:14
Twenty had good propagation and activity. Fun meter and hopes high. Forty was a
big-fat disappointment. Propagation fine, but disappointing activity. Eighty
worse. Worked coast to coast, but very few stations.

K3, ACOM 2000A, wire antenna at 46 feet with Matchboxes, MMTTY, N1MM.

N3QE   Single Op LP   4,3522012-03-10 20:18:26
Nice to see many of the CW sprinters on RTTY, plus a few new ones I don't
recognize from the CW tests as well!

I thought the bands were pretty decent. 20M was working quite well as long as I
was on it (almost all long), 40M was working well too (mostly long but some
short), and 80M was a nice all-around mix both short and long. Here on the east
coast it is commonly a problem that 40M is long and only long by the time the
sprint starts.

I was a little disappointed we didn't have more representation from many states
and there were a lot of missing mults in the end. I never worked CO, SD, ME, RI,
VT, NJ, DE, MD, FL, AR, MS, OK, AK, MT, NV, UT, WY, WV, IN, WI, AB, MAR, ON, SK,
or YT. I know I heard WI (WI9WI) but didn't manage to work him. VE4EAR was doing
a top notch job with MB. I was very happy to work Cuba several times on RTTY on
different bands.

It's possible I was the only MD... didn't hear any others. That's a unique
situation for me! :-)

Some mults that were extremely well represented earlier this year (e.g. NC, CO)
simply weren't there. Maybe RTTY Sprinting is just too esoteric or everyone's
all contested out after a very busy winter contest season! Thanks for the Q's
everyone!

K7HP   Single Op HP   5,7002012-03-10 20:19:09
My apologies to the guys exchangesI screwed up - was using a new N1MM set of fn
keys and thought they were OK with some sample qsos but I really messed up -
missed the Fri nite practice.

WF7T   Single Op LP   5,1062012-03-10 20:19:13
Had fun! Everything worked pretty well though I wished I had a second radio. As
typical, my time management was poor. I went to 80M too early, then bounced
back to 40M and stayed there too long. I should have squoze out a few more Qs
on 80M.

Thanks for letting me play!

Had to go retrieve Tic Ring rotor motor since it wasn't indicating. so 20m beam

Missed first 15 minutes for new-rig adjustment. Borrowing N1WK's K3= Could not
get things figured out at the start.

Ran about 300w.

Probably my most frustrating contest ever. Had N1MM hang up twice requiring a
reboot both times. Then a loose antenna cable connection appeared and it took
nearly 30 minutes to find and resolve that.

Switched to 80m at 0300z and thought the contest was over. I could find nothing
but noise. Eventually I heard and worked a few signals but band was in very
rough shape. I don't know if mmost folks packed it in early and skipped 80m or
if the band was just that bad.

Lots of present and past NS / NS Ladder friends in this one . good to work K1GU,
W4OC, N6RO, W6SX, K4RO, WF7T, W7WHY, K6DGW and to hear, but not work, N4DW.
Rough start, this being a first RTTY sprint for me, but by 80 meters felt some
rhythm developing.

My first participation in a NA Sprint. Interesting format with the forced QSY
and chasing. Other than the CAT to computer lock-up (cleared on reboot) and
cockpit problems due to ill-preparedness, this was fun. Look forward to
improving my score next time around.

I set up a second radio but it had problems (low receiver gain)
so I'm sorry if I didn't hear you. I finally gave it up and just operated
one radio. 20m was good and had people for almost 2 hours! 40m
was land of disturbed propagation, but people tried. Thanks for all
the repeats. Sorry about the contacts lost in the QSB and noise.
80m had propagation? Not around here and not for QRP..
