Conditions seemed OK but very little activity. Lots of multi-band QSOs -
Thanks!

Operated from antenna restricted condo in New Jersey through Internet to Remote
Ham Radio station in New York.

See you all next week in the CQ Worldwide DX Contest, RTTY. Should be a whole
lot more activity.

Ron N6EE

Usual propagation problems for AK in this contest. First 20M dries up then an
empty spell waiting for 40M to wake up. Work a few there and then that band
dries up. Contest ends long before 80M is possible. Still surprised to do this
well considering the ongoing geomagnetic storms and high K index numbers.

Had some trouble setting-up, after a time away from RTTY. Didn't get SO2R going
until the last 45 minutes.

Activity down, and some confusion with state QSO parties (the Salmon Run
locally, and also South Carolina).

Still a fun time, and good to get kinks out before CQ WW RTTY.

Got on in third hour after music job; after 45 minutes I felt I had worked
everyone in the contest with 5 minutes of un-answered CQs on two radios. Came
back in the last 15 minutes for a few.

Sad to see the Sprints going down the tubes. Casual contesters are intimidated
By the format and don't want to try it, despite all the help available on line,
and in the practice NCCC Sprints on Thursday nites.

Humbug, CQP will be better,

Activity thin but a nice pickup of fresh meat in last half hour made it all
worth it.

Probably the first Saturday since June that there hasn't been a T-storm in
the late afternoon. Looks like all is set for the RTTY CQWW next weekend,
except for the sunspots :)

Not much time for this one. Participation sure seemed slim here.

Thanks for the Q's nad 73

Seems this contest was broken from the start... No Web Support, No Chatter, No
Condx, No Activity :) Thanks K6LL for letting me know it was really on and
adding me to a team..

In preparation, I found the settings all messed up,
I think Windows 10 was doing automatic updates, grrr!
I straightened it out, and worked a couple RTTY
stations in Salmon Run and the South Carolina QSO
Parties. Only one radio this time, because the DX
chasers were using the other radio and antennas.

Saw a T43 before the start, and finally worked him
on 40m. Fairly slow on 20m and it cleared out early.
40m had some new stations, and turned out to be my
best band. Nice to work NP2X. Around 0230z I couldnt
find any new calls on 40m, so I started bouncing
80/40/80... Good conditions, but not enough sprinters
made the last hour slow. Thanks for the contacts!

First time in contest. While I did move after the first or second qso, I didn't
move far enough. Live and learn. Turned out to be a lot more fun than I
anticipated. Now I wish I had done the entire four hours, which I will do next
time.

Spent most of time getting the software working after the station has been idle
most of the summer. The signals seemed good but the software wasn't decoding
very good.Using N1MM+ with MMVARI, FLDIGI seem to lock up everthing. Need to
find some time to get things set up better.

CHECKLOG

I came across this sprint by accident while looking for SCQP and WAQP RTTY
stations on 40m and finding the sprint activity instead, so I joined in for a
short while. 20m was pretty much dead by that time and I don't have an 80m
antenna, so 40m was the "it" band.

My only experience with sprints is occasional participation with the Thursday
evening (eastern time) half hour practice, usually just to have a few weekday
RTTY QSOs. Have never paid much attention to the rules, aside from knowing I
must QSY, so this time I looked at them and found I didn't follow the 5 kHz QSY
rule. Or at least didn't pay attention to it, so probably violated it. It's
hard to keep track. Hence the CHECKLOG, but I can't submit it anyway, so it's
irrelevant.

Had FSK issues for first hour and a half. Switched to AFSK and starting making
Q's. Effectively, I only worked half the time of the contest.

Lessons learned.

Happy to say these are my first two RTTY contacts. I have a few bugs to work out
with my interface before next weekend's CQWW RTTY contest.

First RTTY contest. Weird.
