This was a special contest for us as we were using VE7RAC and it was the end of the Canada 150 birthday event. It was also special as we had an opportunity to use the new Icom 7610 along with a Flex 6700 and an Icom 7300, all state of the art technology. Needless to say all radios perfomed extremely well. Thanks to the Surrey ARC who loaned us their US Towers 100' mobile tower and TH7 we had three towers. A 100' mobile with the TH7, a 3 element SteppIR at 60' and a TH6 at 65'. We had wire antennas for 80 and 160 with the SteppIR handling 40. Our two YL contest ops had a lot of fun with the new radios and were able to handled the pile-ups very well. After the contest we relaxed with a Chinese dinner and relived the previous 24 hours while we tried to stay awake. Discussing the performance of the radios the ops gave them very high marks in being able to pick out calls in the pile-ups. Thanks to all the stations that are now in our log and hope you all enjoyed the RAC contest. If you are looking for the Canada 150 award certificate please check the RAC Website at www.rac.ca. This log will be uploaded shortly. 73 Fred VE7IO
