CQWW SSB is beginning to grow on me. This contest generates so many interesting multipliers that just looking at the announced list of operations before the event is enough to get me pumped up. The high rates of SSB, and the ease of multiplier moving, further up the fun factor. Conditions on 80-15 meters were drastically improved vs the 2016 contest. Somehow I managed to work 16 fewer multipliers on 160 meters this year as compared to last year. Probably a combination of less time spent on the band and fewer available Caribbean multipliers. I still do not understand how so many Europeans can be nearly S9 and not hear a 4 square calling them. Seriously Europeans, turn your power down and/or put up some sort of RX antenna. 80 meters offered some brief runs into Europe. Operating split seemed to generate more answers to CQ as compared to simplex. I never heard any VK, ZL, or JA stations on this band. 40 meters started out slow. Europeans were extremely loud but I couldn't run at all the first night. The band improved significantly the second half of the contest with a nice European sunrise opening Sunday morning. Some fun multipliers called in on 20 meters Sunday morning during the European run. Several VU stations, HS0, and even a zone 23 station in China. Thankfully both a VK and ZL called long path Sunday afternoon both for double multipliers. 15 meters seemed to have deeper openings into zone 16 on Sunday and I kept thinking that some Asia stuff would call in over Europe but that didn't happen. I missed some easy Caribbean mults on this band. 10 meters had short openings to zone 33 and a few zone 14 stations. I went 48 hours straight for this one. It was surprisingly easy. The hallucinations stayed away for most of Sunday. There was one time though when I jumped out of my chair because I thought someone was standing directly next to me. It turned out to be an unruly strand of hair hanging down on the side of my head. That scare gave me enough adrenaline to finish the contest. Thanks again to my friends Tariq and Scott for using their amazing station. Looking forward to doing SOAB HP CW. 73, Kevin, N5DX Cabrillo Statistics (Version 10g) by K5KA & N6TV http://bit.ly/cabstat CALLSIGN: N5DX CONTEST: CQ-WW-SSB CATEGORY-OPERATOR: SINGLE-OP CATEGORY-TRANSMITTER: ONE OPERATORS: N5DX --> 4U1A has an unknown country prefix. -------------- Q S O R a t e S u m m a r y --------------------- Hour 160 80 40 20 15 10 Rate Total Pct -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0000 0 0 53 2 0 0 55 55 1.5 0100 3 20 12 4 0 0 39 94 2.6 0200 0 31 0 0 0 0 31 125 3.4 0300 1 15 22 0 0 0 38 163 4.5 0400 10 10 29 0 0 0 49 212 5.8 0500 10 12 16 0 0 0 38 250 6.8 0600 4 23 23 0 0 0 50 300 8.2 0700 7 8 22 0 0 0 37 337 9.2 0800 6 4 31 0 0 0 41 378 10.3 0900 2 9 6 0 0 0 17 395 10.8 1000 0 1 5 40 0 0 46 441 12.1 1100 0 0 0 148 0 0 148 589 16.1 1200 0 0 0 9 226 0 235 824 22.6 1300 0 0 0 0 204 0 204 1028 28.1 1400 0 0 0 0 122 0 122 1150 31.5 1500 0 0 0 8 83 7 98 1248 34.2 1600 0 0 0 2 144 9 155 1403 38.4 1700 0 0 0 65 66 2 133 1536 42.0 1800 0 0 0 103 2 11 116 1652 45.2 1900 0 0 0 92 18 1 111 1763 48.2 2000 0 0 0 50 10 13 73 1836 50.2 2100 0 0 3 21 21 7 52 1888 51.7 2200 0 0 66 24 0 0 90 1978 54.1 2300 0 0 34 7 0 0 41 2019 55.3 0000 0 9 13 5 0 0 27 2046 56.0 0100 2 7 39 0 0 0 48 2094 57.3 0200 1 17 9 0 0 0 27 2121 58.0 0300 3 36 8 0 0 0 47 2168 59.3 0400 2 38 2 0 0 0 42 2210 60.5 0500 7 1 79 0 0 0 87 2297 62.9 0600 1 3 108 0 0 0 112 2409 65.9 0700 0 0 57 0 0 0 57 2466 67.5 0800 2 0 9 0 0 0 11 2477 67.8 0900 1 0 10 0 0 0 11 2488 68.1 1000 0 1 3 17 0 0 21 2509 68.7 1100 0 0 0 100 0 0 100 2609 71.4 1200 0 0 0 96 34 0 130 2739 75.0 1300 0 0 0 2 181 0 183 2922 80.0 1400 0 0 0 9 103 0 112 3034 83.0 1500 0 0 0 5 93 0 98 3132 85.7 1600 0 0 0 6 41 10 57 3189 87.3 1700 0 0 0 14 38 5 57 3246 88.8 1800 0 0 0 92 0 11 103 3349 91.7 1900 0 0 0 39 13 12 64 3413 93.4 2000 0 0 0 61 1 2 64 3477 95.2 2100 0 0 48 19 9 4 80 3557 97.3 2200 0 0 45 6 7 0 58 3615 98.9 2300 1 0 33 5 0 0 39 3654 100.0 ------------------------------------------------------ Total 63 245 785 1051 1416 94 3654 Gross QSOs=3733 Dupes=79 Net QSOs=3654 Unique callsigns worked = 2604 The best 60 minute rate was 288/hour from 1220 to 1319 The best 30 minute rate was 334/hour from 1220 to 1249 The best 10 minute rate was 366/hour from 1220 to 1229 The best 1 minute rates were: 8 QSOs/minute 1 times. 7 QSOs/minute 5 times. 6 QSOs/minute 16 times. 5 QSOs/minute 46 times. 4 QSOs/minute 111 times. 3 QSOs/minute 293 times. 2 QSOs/minute 531 times. 1 QSOs/minute 900 times.
