There was a lot of activity in NM for this contest, which is a big change from years past when it was difficult to get anyone on. One year I roved and didn't work anyone! Thanks to W0VOA/r who came down from Colorado to rove with K2DRH and K9PW, who came for the Central States VHF Society Conference and stayed for the inaugural 222MHz and Up Distance Contest. There were a lot of fixed stations on as well. There was also a lot of microwave activity, thanks to W7QQ and K9PW, which has been a rarity in past contests. I had 222.1 to 3456 and 10gHz, but the 2304 rig did not work and between the low power and high mountains, I did network anyone on 3456. I managed 4 QSOes on 10GHz, which was really quite nice. I liked the new distance scoring format. Exchanging 6-gridsquares was a bit challenging at times, but the challenge was worth it. The team aspect was nice as well and it will be nice to see how that works out. Rig TS-2000X, Elecfraft XV222 transverter, DEMI 902 Transverter, DEMI 2304 and 3456 transverters with Kenwood 751 IFs, Kuhne 10GHz (0.2W) transverter, Elecraft KX3 IF. 8ft Yagis on 222 and 432, 4 ft Yagi on 902, 4ft Loop Yagi on 1296, 3 ft loop Yagis on 2304 and 3456, 20dB horn on 10GHz.
