Bands were not great, but 40M had some super EU signals Saturday evening, and I ended up with more 4- and 6-pointers on 40M than usual, and more Qs on 40M than 15M. Thought 20M was mushy into EU on Sunday morning, and the polar path openings both mornings were too short. Tough to get much out of Europe on 15M and 20M when neither band is strong and you know you have about one hour to extract as much as you can before things turn into a domestic contest again. 10M was long to South America, and most of NA was just too close. Just 22.5 hours in this one -- down a bit from most years. Missed the first two hours, and the rest of Friday night was worked with my nose against the monitoe so I could sort of see the text (my eyes were pretty much worthless from dilation and antiseptic gel applied to them for Lucentis injections at 0100z). Tried to be careful logging, but expect a few data entry muff-ups in the mix from the first night. Was seeing better by Saturday morning,. Still, not being competitive the first night left me quite unmotivated for the remainder of the weekend. Took the final 3 hours off and, feeling bad about that, returned with 8 minutes left to hear 15M wide open to JA and all those prefixes that had been absent the previous day were now pounding into VE7. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Had a better score than this in 2013 with 100 watts, so conditions are definitely returning to the long trough in the cycle. Now on to ARRL DX CW. That's going to be a long one if the bands are like this again next weekend.
