This was an interesting contest. The weather was very nice. Band conditions were about average for August, with some enhancement to the north. My biggest surprise was working K2YAZ from EN62ad, which does not have anything like a clear view in his direction. My most frequent DX contact was with W0UC, at 429 km from EN51rl, and nearly 400 km from the other locations. Overall activity was down from previous contests, with many of the usual stations missing. Due to the new scoring system, I switched to a new logging program, RoverLog. After a few initial stumbles, I was able to finish entering the paper log in a couple of hours. As some of you may have heard, the initial scoring calculations were way too high, but that has now been fixed. I found the various sorting features in RoverLog to be very helpful in checking the log for typos.
